Happiness!!!!

In spite of all the things that we do, we deserve to be happy. The Lord has been sharing this with me all day. No matter what the past may look like, we deserve happiness. Sometimes that is hard to believe because we condemn ourselves and we convince ourselves that happiness does not happen to “people like us”. But I have come to tell you that that just isn’t true. The word says that we are made new in Christ Jesus. That means that we cannot be held to our past and what people have seen us to be. God has washed it all away and we are now made righteous. Psalms 68:3 states, “But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful”. We are meant to be happy and have our spirit filled with joy. Those are two gifts of God’s Spirit that we are suppose to let dwell within us.

There are only two things we can be: sad or happy. Proverbs 15:13 states that, “Happiness makes a person smile, but sadness can break a person’s spirit”. Sadness can break your spirit and depression and doubt will creep in b behind it. The word sadness means sorrowful or mournful. Why do we let ourselves go days or even years mourning the things that we cannot change? We tend to let ourselves go through a mourning period trying to bargain with God that if He will just change this, then you will be at church or you will give better tithes, or you will help out more in the church. We expect so much from God but we do not believe in who we are in Him. We are the children of the Most High and sadness is something that is not suppose to be in our bodies. We may be sad for a moment but it is not meant to be forever. We turn seasonal sadness into daily sorrow.

It is time to move out of the state of thinking and move into the mindset of being forgiven and blessed. All of the things that we go through are things that are meant to prepare us for bigger things that come and shake things in our lives. When things become scary and you don’t know where to turn, turn to God and pray. James 15:3 says, “Is any of you in trouble? Then you should pray. Are any of you of happy? Then sing songs of praise”. Prayer changes sadness to happiness and tears to laughter. You just have to pray for the belief that you are truly forgiven of all things of the past. In all that we do, He knows our heart. God is love and His love covers a multitude of all.
