…They had given birth to the sin and mankind would grow under its power. They opened the gate to the one thing that has caused destruction within the human race since its beginning. They had given the lust of the eyes power to consume once again. satan knew of this lust all too well. It was this lust that corrupted his very image and made him an enemy of God. It kept him from being content with his role as an angel and caused him to want to be just like God. And since he was no longer an angel but a condemned creature awaiting his judgment, he felt the best way to attack God would be through the very thing God loved enough to give His image to. And they fell for it, or should we say, she fell for it, because Adam was not deceived. He went along with his wife. He could have covered her in her sin, but instead gave his dominion over to the serpent as well. So we see mankind in its fallen state, and it began with the decision that the woman made.
But who was this woman that God gave Adam? Surely there was more to her than being his co-conspirator in sin. She is a helpmeet and in her abilities, one can see God all throughout her. This is who she is. She is not less than that, but exactly that.
We know that women have purpose, but what we see today are women living life without knowledge of that purpose. We tell them that God will restore them and build them back to their original order, but are only speaking of reteaching their domestic roles. This is because we never met the woman. We read about her and took note of her failures, but we have always looked at her in connection with the man. The woman was married to Adam and for many single women, this does not help them to understand what God has meant for their lives.
Today I hope you see that the woman was part of an idea that resembled a perfect image of God. Her image and her purpose can not be understood solely within the context of her existing with Adam because she was, even before Him in the mind of God. Every female can know who they are when they look at God in His fullness because her existence was His idea. She is a person of worth and value because she resembles qualities and exhibits characteristics of her Maker. You have met her in the image of the Godhead. You have talked with her in the pages of our Savior’s story. But most of all, you have met her in the mirror as you begin each day. You may not have recognized her as she may have been hidden behind identity crisis, hurts, wounds and misunderstanding. But as you look for her and allow the truth of God’s word to reveal her, you will like her and you will learn to become one with her. You are God’s best work to prove that He has not changed and has purposed that you live in His image.
For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
